This birthed a dream in the hearts of local leaders to take the beliefs and principles of MLK and build on them. Hence, the MLK Dream Weekend was born. The MLK Scholarship Celebration seeks to raise funds for the Foundation's efforts to support local youth in the Upstate of South Carolina. The Scholarship Celebration is the oldest celebration of MLK Day in Greenville, SC, with the first event held in 1977.
