MLK Day is an official national day of service where citizens are encouraged to volunteer their time to make a positive change in their community. As the country continues to grapple with racial inequalities and divisiveness, King’s struggle for equality, liberty, and justice stays strongly relevant and inspirational. Martin Luther King Jr. was a minister and activist who advanced civil rights for people of color through nonviolence and acts of civil disobedience. He championed the right to vote, desegregation, labor rights, and other civil rights and protested against poverty, capitalism and the Vietnam War. On Monday, January 20, 2025, we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader whose vision for equality and justice continues to inspire.
